We believe in an independent Wales
We think the time is ripe for the people of Wales to manage our own affairs. We don't think the current model works at all, and we want to build something better. We know Wales has the potential - and more than enough talent within this big, big small country - to not just strike it out on our own, but to show a better, more communal way forward for other countries as well.
But we also reject some of the traditional assumptions of the rest of the independence movement. We do not believe a referendum is required for independence; we do not believe the people of Wales need to be asked twice the same question. If the people of Wales vote for parties in the Senedd which support independence in their majority, then those parties should be able to act together to secure independence for the people of Wales - as that would be the mandate granted them.
As our Constitution states:
"One of the purposes of this party is, through democratic action, the attainment of a democratic, independent, and autonomous Wales. We reject a referendum as a necessity. Instead, we commit to proposing Welsh independence as a core policy at every future election until the Welsh public consents through vote to the independence of Wales. Should this occur, we will demand independence from Westminster. Should Westminster refuse, we will take action to secure independence. Wales will not ask permission."
We believe further that the Senedd should leverage every opportunity to gather the necessary powers of an independent country to itself, and to secure the practicalities thereof even where devolution does not necessarily provide for same. After all, the fact of the matter is
